A little tribute to Jan Voerman

Back to flowers

A couple of years ago while visiting the Voerman Museum in Hattem, I bought a nice handmade replica of the ginger jar used by the master in his famous still lifes.

I do not often paint flowers, yet I like them a lot. So this time I made a couple of settings with nasturtiums from our garden and tried to paint them in the classical style of Voerman.

Quite satisfied with the result. Let's call it "Ginger Jar from Hattem". Painted with primary oil colours plus titanium white and burnt umber. Alla prima. The panel is 19 x 26,5 cm.

View the finished painting in my gallery.
